He didn’t Just Carry the Cross

Music has always spoken to me. Back in the 50’s, when the crust of the Earth was still smoldering, I sang in a popular Rock & Roll group. But after becoming a Christian in 1965, I spent a couple of years giving concerts and singing a different message.

Recently, I heard a few Gospel songs that spoke to my heart about the love of Jesus. I will underline the words in these songs.

One song said, He didn’t just carry the Cross – He carried ME!  What a great thought. When I inserted my name, He carried Ron, it took on a whole new meaning of His great love and sacrifice. It made me pause and think about the Creator of all things. He made the tree that was made into a cross. He created the hill called Mt. Calvary.

Then the Creator of the Universe allowed His “Creation” to nail Him to that Cross. While suffering on that Cross, He said, I thirst! Yet He made the rivers. He said I thirst! Yet He made the sea. In His great thirst, He brought water to me!

When you stop and personalize what Jesus did for you, you see a better picture of the price He paid that we might have “life and life more abundant.”

The Crown of thorns He wore now makes believers a part of a Royal Family!

Someone said, “If you seek Him, you will find Him. If you find Him, you will love Him. If you love Him, you will serve Him.” You and I serve a great God. We have been given the sacred honor of serving the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Whether you are helping your church, a ministry, a friend, or a neighbor. Share this joy everywhere you serve. “I tell you,” He replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” Lk. 19:40. Do not be quiet. Stand as a witness of that powerful love purchased for you on the cross.

This is the Christ we want the world to know. This is the Christ we serve. Therefore, “I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Phil. 3:10-11.

Blessings,
