Wait for it!

We all have heard the term “Wait for it! Wait for it!  At that time, you expect to see something exciting and great.

I didn’t always like the word, “Wait”. Growing up, I heard that word often. “Ronnie, just wait!” or “Just wait till your father comes home!” Waiting for that was not fun.

Yet, as an adult, I have learned to like that word. Wonderful things have happened in my life by waiting for it. Since becoming a follower of Christ in 1965, I began to see great things happen in my life when I waited for the Lord. I confess it has not always been easy because of my “Type A” personality but I know our great Father wants to give us the desires of our heart if we just learn to wait upon the Lord.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” [Ps. 27:14 NIV] Doing this is not for sissies. It requires being strong and a lot of trust. But the wait is always worth it.

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” [Ps. 37:3-4 NIV]

In the dictionary, the word “Delight” says “To give great pleasure to.” When we delight ourselves in the Lord, it pleases the Lord. He responds to those who love Him and delight in Him.

Do you have a business or ministry situation you need help with? Commit it, trust the Lord, and wait.

Are you concerned about a loved one? Commit it, trust the Lord, and wait.

Do you have a big decision about the direction you are going? Commit it, trust the Lord, and wait.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.  He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.” [Ps. 40:1-3 NIV]

Lord help me to wait for you,
